Reaching Out depicts two hands coming together in search of one another. Like much of Sergio De Giusti’s work, this piece has a humanistic consideration and represents people reaching out to people. It also parallels the vision of Michigan Legacy Art Park as a place that brings people, nature, art and history together. De Giusti is inspired by his Italian heritage and many humanistic Italian historic traditions are evident in much of his work.
Reaching Out was a donation from De Giusti, whose relief pieces are typically cast of bronze. Much of his work is displayed in southeastern Michigan; Wayne State University, Eastern Michigan University, Lansing State Library and the Rick Finley United States Drug Enforcement Administration Building.
