Huron – the next sculpture in the Great Lakes Project

Michigan-Brian-FerribyA special message to the members of Northwoods Ski & Spree and Benzie Bike Club:

Last winter, I had the opportunity to give a snowshoe tour of Michigan Legacy Art Park to members of Northwoods Ski & Spree. Many of the people on that tour had never been to the Art Park before so I encouraged them to return in warmer weather to enjoy a concert, workshop or to just hike the 1.5-mile trail on their own. Since then I've had the opportunity to get to know Peg Lawrenson – a member of both the Ski & Spree and the Benzie Bike Club. She helped spread the word about our clean-up day in May and several friends from the bike club came to help. Jackie Jackson, also a member of Benzie Bike Club, has been an Art Park volunteer for three years – leading hundreds of children through the Park on school field trips.

What a great collaboration we've begun!

After brainstorming with Peg a few months ago, we'd like to present an opportunity for the clubs to underwrite the next sculpture in the Great Lakes series at Michigan Legacy Art Park. The Great Lakes Project by artist Brian Ferriby began with the installation of Superior in 2010 followed by Michigan in 2012. The project continues with the vision of creating and installing three additional sculptures, each work depicting a different Great Lake.

The_Grind8x12smallBefore Brian can start work on Huron, $1,320 is needed to cover the cost of materials and installation. Please join Peg and Jackie in underwriting the next sculpture in the Great Lakes Project
