Created in 2003, Inside a Historical Mystery: Mounds is the second collaboration of MLAP and the Interlochen Arts Academy. According to Nagle, “the mound builders left a tremendous mark upon Michigan’s terrain—an estimated 600 mounds have yet to be explored and another 500 have been destroyed.”
Seeking to educate and inform, this piece raises awareness of a pressing social issue endemic to Michigan.” This sculpture is the first public piece of art for Nagle, who at the time was a senior sculpture student at Interlochen Arts Academy.
