Summer Sounds 2015 Concert Series

fullhouse2Entertain your family and friends at a concert in the Art Park this summer. The relaxed atmosphere and great music are a perfect way to enjoy a midsummer evening. This year the series is expanding from five to six performances thanks to our generous sponsors.

All concerts take place on at 7 p.m. at the amphitheater.

Friday, July 17 – May Erlewine with Seth Bernard
The sounds and influences you’ll hear in her music range from good old fashioned folk and country swing to soul singers, rock and music from all over the wide world. It’s all bundled together with stories and melodies to take you on a journey of the heart.

Friday, July 24 – Benzie Playboys
K.Jones and the Benzie Playboys play some great “old school” zydeco and cajun music with traditional button accordions, fiddles, and washboard for an authentic Louisiana dance experience.

Friday, July 31 – Interlochen Faculty Revue
Singer-songwriters Courtney Kaiser-Sandler and Kyle Novy will share the stage with cellist Crispin Campbell and percussionist John Driscoll for a performance that highlights the teaching talent of Interlochen.

Friday, August 7 – Ruth and Max Bloomquist
With influences of folk, bluegrass, and country, they have created a heart touching, audience pleasing acoustic Americana that is all their own.

Saturday, August 8 Terry Barber
A classically-trained countertenor with an extreme range and versatile voice, Terry Barber is equally at home in the concert hall, recording studio, theater and opera house. His solo voice can be heard on every major label with a variety of artists from Madonna to the London Philharmonic.

Friday, August 14 – The Accidentals
Back by popular demand, Traverse City singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, Katie Larson, Savannah Buist and Michael Dause, have created a sound all their own that is winning praise from music lovers across the country.

$10 suggested donation for admission.

  • Because the concert series is entirely underwritten by our generous sponsors, all donations from the audience directly benefit Michigan Legacy Art Park.
  • Guests are welcome to bring picnics, lawn chairs, or blankets. Art Park folding chairs will be available to rent or purchase.
  • To purchase your custom picnic dinner for two delivered to you at the concert, call Crystal Mountain at (231) 378-2000 ext. 5000.
  • The new accessible trail between the parking lot and the amphitheater is now open. Rides from the Art Park to the amphitheater will continue to be offered beginning at 6:15 p.m.
    If raining, the concert will be held indoors at Crystal Mountain.
